Father Severine Character Analysis

Father Severine is Mooshum’s older half-brother and the priest in Pluto at the time of the 1911 lynching. After Mooshum and Holy Track initially escape the white men who have come to capture them, they take refuge in the church with Father Severine. Though Father Severine has long been a mentor to Holy Track, he does not seem to believe Holy Track’s truthful assertion that he is completely innocent. Nevertheless, Father Severine helps Mooshum and Holy Track to hide, doing his best to protect them from the vigilantes.
