Out of the Dust

Out of the Dust

by

Karen Hesse

The Dust Bowl was a time of great hardship in the early 1930s for parts of Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. Most people who lived in these areas relied on farming to survive, and the dust storms that raged during the Dust Bowl eroded the soil quality. As a result, many people moved out of the area, searching for a better life.
