Analysis
In Amarillo, Texas, fifty miles south of where Billie Jo and her family live, a storm—possibly a tornado—wreaks havoc. It destroys windows, signs, and crops. This occurs in February of 1934.
Billie Jo’s region is full of danger and weather that could uproot their lives in a matter of minutes.
