Clytië was Phoebus’s lover before he fell in love with Leucothoë. She is furious that Phoebus has found a new love interest, and tells Leucothoë’s father about his daughter’s affair, leading him to kill Leucothoë. After Leucothoë is dead, Phoebus doesn’t return to Clytië, and she lies despondent in the sunshine until she’s turned into a heliotrope flower.
