Alexander “Sasha” Zhivago Character Analysis

Alexander “Sasha” Zhivago is Yuri and Tonya Zhivago’s son and elder child. He’s often called “Sashenka,” a diminutive form of his name. Sashenka is born shortly before Yuri is drafted and sent to the frontlines of World War I. Fatherless in his formative years, Sashenka remains suspicious of his father even after Yuri returns.
