Alexander Alexandrovich Gromeko Character Analysis

Alexander Alexandrovich Gromeko is a wealthy professor and the husband of Anna Ivanovna and the father of Tonya. A liberal socialist, Alexander Alexandrovich is elected to a Moscow district duma between the February and October revolutions; he is suspicious of the Bolsheviks and fiercely argues with their supporters like Nikolai Nikolaevich. Alexander Alexandrovich’s talents are widely recognized, however, and he is called back to Moscow while Yuri is with the partisans, only to be deported along with his family for his political leanings.
