Summary
Analysis
It still takes 11 more meals before Jdahya lets Lilith leave the room. When she asks more about his tentacles, he admits that he can sting and kill with all of them but has no desire to do so. His goal is to keep humans alive, and when they fight him, he is strong enough to resist without stinging. Ooloi, however, have nonlethal stings. At last, Jdahya says it’s time to go and see his family.
Jdahya’s admission that he has the ability to lethally sting humans shows how there is a clear power balance in the relationship between himself and Lilith. Nevertheless, his decision to tell her this shows how he is being increasingly open with Lilith about the reality of the situation that she finds herself in.
